Life on the Water

Lake Waubesa is the smallest of the four lakes in the Yahara Chain, covering nine miles of shoreline and just over 2,000 acres.

Two pebble beaches line the shore of Lake Waubesa, perfect for swimming and fishing. These beaches are also claimed by the Waubesa Sailing Club who have been cruising the lake's waters for over 35 years.

Upper Mud Lake, a section of the upper region of Lake Waubesa, is known to be an ideal bird-watching perch.

For the fishing lovers, locals commonly catch musky, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye, and catfish. You'll surely find the perfect catch at this lake!

Each July, Lake Waubesa holds "Waubesa Surf n' Turf". This competition combines a round of golf with a round of fishing to determine Lake Waubesa's ultimate sportsman.

The Dane County Fair, which takes place just a few miles from Lake Waubesa every late July, provides exciting fun for all ages. This carnival features amusement rides, animals, and nightly concerts.
