    Blue Marsh Lake is a beautiful 1,150-acre lake that is nestled in the Blue Marsh National Recreation Area. This lake is less than twenty minutes outside Reading, Pennsylvania, and two hours outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

    The Philadelphia International Airport is a little over an hour and a half east in Philadelphia. Reading Hospital is around 20 minutes away in Reading.

    Fishing Blue Marsh Lake

    Blue Marsh Lake is home to many species of fish. Fish caught here are Brown Bullhead, Channel Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Muskie, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, Tiger Muskie, Walleye, White Bass, and Yellow Perch.

    This spread-out lake is the perfect spot for swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing. Three ramps are available on all corners of the lake to get your craft into the water. There are also multiple hiking and biking trails along the lake's perimeter.

    Only five minutes away from Blue Marsh is the Plum Creek Farm Market & Creamery. This family-owned and operated farmers market offers fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from local producers, including Plum Creek farmers. Don't forget to grab a cup of freshly made soft serve at their creamery!

    Around 20 minutes west in Womelsdorf is the Conrad Weiser Homestead. Conrad Weiser was a German immigrant born in the late 1600s. A few years after his family immigrated to New York, he lived with the Mohawk tribe of Iroquois Native Americans.

    Weiser moved to Pennsylvania in 1729, and his knowledge of the Native's language and customs was put to use. He negotiated nearly every land treaty between colonists and Natives in the mid-1700s. His homestead was thoroughly preserved, and today is open for tourists to come and learn his story.

    Reading is a beautiful, industrious town that Blue Marsh residents are very close to, less than twenty minutes.

    Check out the Reading Pagoda, the city's longtime symbol. In 1908, plans were made for this replication of a Japanese pagoda temple to be a luxury hotel. When the plans were abandoned, the pagoda and land were donated to the city. Built atop the southern end of Mount Penn, it now serves as a popular travel destination to view the city.

    Head to the FirstEnergy Stadium to see the Reading Fighting Phils play! Watching the team play ball is a popular pastime in Reading. So grab a drink and a corndog, and let's play ball!

    The Reading Public Museum is a must on your Reading checklist if you are a lover of science! With over 100 years of operation under its belt, this museum houses over 300,000 objects that everyone in the family will find interesting. There is an arboretum, a planetarium, and a history museum.
