The Charm of Bemidji

Lake Bemidji is a recreational hub in the city, covering 6,420 acres, and many people enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming in the beautiful waters. Nymore Beach, Lake Bemidji State Park, and Bemidji Town & Country Club are around the shore.

Years ago, lumberjacks discovered the rich lumber in Bemidji, and the legend of Paul Bunyan and the Blue Ox was born. Located on the southwest shore of Lake Bemidji, Paul and Babe's statues are the 2nd-most photographed icons in the nation.

The City of Lights, Art in the Park, the Annual Water "Carnival," Dragon Boat Festival, and Bemidji Blue Ox Marathon are popular city events.

Waters of the Region

Cass Lake is a stunning expanse covering 1,399,425 acres, featuring pristine blue waters and miles of wooded shoreline; the lake is known as one of the most beautiful in the state.

On the waters of Cass Lake, people enjoy boating, water skiing, and fishing for healthy walleye and muskies. Its sandy shores make it easy to swim wherever you are around the lake.

Andrusia Lake, Big Lake, Swenson Lake, Pike Bay, and Wolf Lake are nearby water bodies that are close to downtown Cass Lake with less traffic.

Upper and Lower Red Lake combined cover 288,000 acres, making it the largest inland water body in Minnesota. The lake is shared by the band of Chippewa Indians and recreational fishermen.
