Life on the Water

Lake Elmo is 256 acres in size, with a maximum depth of 140 feet. The lake contains just over four miles of shoreline, offering plenty of room for lake fun.

Swimming, boating, fishing, watersports, and taking a peaceful walk on the trail along the shore are all great options here. A public access point is on the western side of the water.

Anglers can find black bullhead, bluegill, brown bullhead, brown trout, green sunfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, pumpkinseed, rainbow trout, walleye, yellow bullhead, yellow perch, and more.

Lake Elmo Park Reserve is on the western side of the lake and spans 2,165 acres. The reserve features an archery range, a boat launch, canoe access, cross-country ski trails, equestrian trails, a fishing pier, multiple campgrounds, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, nature programs, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, a swimming pond, and more.

Finally, for outdoor recreation and scenic nature, check out Minnehaha Park. This is the oldest park in Minneapolis and boasts 193 acres, numerous scenic trails, limestone bluffs, a 53-foot waterfall, picnic pavilions, bike rentals, and an off-leash dog park.
