About Lake Medora

Lake Medora- Keweenaw County

Lake Medora lies on the far north peninsula of Michigan just four miles out from Copper Harbor. This remote and peaceful area is perfect for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Lake Medora stretches 675 acres and is positioned just inland from the largest lake in the world — Lake Superior. Lake Medora may not be well known, but its beautiful clear waters and surrounding forests give locals an amazing outdoor area to explore.

The area is secluded so if medical help is needed, you will need to travel about 30 miles south to the township of Larium. There are multiple hospitals and urgent clinics there for any medical needs. The nearest major commercial airport is Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Get to know Copper Harbor

While Copper Harbor is a small town, there is still plenty of local cuisines to choose from. North Pole Bar and Restaurant, The Mariner North Restaurant, and Harbor Haus are all popular places that are perfect for a fun evening out.

For outdoor lovers, there are countless opportunities for hiking, biking, and exploring. Manganese Falls, Brockway Mountain Drive, Fort Wilkins State Park, Isle Royale National Park, and Copper Harbor Bike Trail System. Each of these locations holds plenty of trails, streams, and gorgeous views for you to soak in the beauty of Michigan.

On the Water

For fishing, Lake Medora is home to several species of fish such as yellow perch, smallmouth bass, and lake whitefish. The best time for fishing in this area is during late spring and summer, however, ice fishing is also common in the area for those willing to brave the Michigan cold.

The majority of the lake is privately owned so depending on the property you may have your own dock. There is also a public boat launch if you need it.

This lake is perfect for paddling, boating, or watching wildlife. The small islands and inlets all throughout the lake are perfect for finding serenity and privacy as you explore the outdoors.
