It was originally part of the Seigler's property and later purchased by George Neer and his wife from them in the 1920s or 30s. However, the Neers eventually sold the property to Herman Gornto on July 23, 1938, who married Ruth Miller just a few months later on September 3, 1938. When the Gorntos first moved in, the house was just a shell, and they had to divide it into rooms themselves. They added a bathroom, kitchen, and porch in the mid-40s and lived in the house for the rest of their lives. The Gorntos had three children and added various plants and trees to the property, including a vegetable garden and flowers. They also raised chickens and sold them in Ruth's mother's store, Millie Tyre, located in Florahome. While the Gorntos cleared part of the property, they left some areas untouched and made walking trails through it. The property boasts beautiful old oak trees, a few palm trees, and a couple of citrus trees. In the early 70s, Herman and one of his daughters and her husband built a house behind the original one. As their family grew, they needed more room, so they purchased Herman's dad, W.D. Gornto's store building in Grandin, had it moved, and added it to the existing building, dividing it into rooms. Over the years, various family members have occupied the house, and the front deck and back porch were later added by their oldest daughter and her husband. Currently, the house behind the original is empty, but the main house is occupied by the property's caretaker. Despite the changes over the years, the property still holds its charm and history.
