Silver Lake State Park reserves about half of the lake’s shoreline and features 35 acres of parklands.

Its large, sandy beach is one of the lake’s greatest attractions. The park also includes hiking trails, picnic grounds, grills, a concession stand, boat rentals, a playground, campsites, and more.

When the lake freezes over, it is used for ice skating, hockey, and ice fishing.

Visit Montpelier

While in Montpelier, check out the Vermont State House, offering tours of the numerous, elaborate rooms and architecture. The statehouse contains murals from the Civil War.

Next, visit Camel’s Hump for a hike through nature. This mountain is the second highest in Vermont and is considered one of the best hikes in the state, offering brilliant views.

Lastly, visit the Vermont Historical Society Museum, featuring tours and artifacts of the American Revolution, Native Americans, and the history of Vermont.
