Lake Riley is in Jackson Township, Minnesota, just to the southeast of Minneapolis.

This lake is 17 miles away from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and less than 10 miles away from St. Francis Regional Medical Center.

Residents can shop at nearby Eden Prairie Center, featuring stores like Target, Kohl’s, Eddie Bauer, and Barnes and Noble. Be sure to grab a bite to eat at Redstone American Grill or Cafe Zupas.

Life on the Water

Lake Riley is 296 acres in size, with a maximum depth of 49 feet. This lake contains 3.3 miles of shoreline, offering plenty of space for lake fun.

Popular activities include boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and taking in the views. Many homes have docks, but a public access point is on the eastern side.

Anglers can find black bullhead, bluegill, brown bullhead, green sunfish, largemouth bass, northern pike, rock bass, walleye, yellow bullhead, yellow perch, pumpkinseed, and more.

Riley Lake Park is on the eastern side of the water and provides many amenities. Residents can find a basketball court, a bike trail, a boat ramp, a fishing pier, a shelter, a picnic area, playground equipment, a sand volleyball court, a swimming beach, a tennis court, a youth baseball field, and parking.

Around the Area

Just a few blocks away from Lake Riley is Paisley Park. This museum is housed inside musician Prince’s private estate and production complex, featuring artifacts from his life and guided tours.

Next, visit the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. This natural area offers 1,137 acres of scenic display gardens, trees, nature trails, and sculptures.

There are numerous attractions in Minneapolis, starting with the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Travel through 4,000 years of world history as you view more than 80,000 works of sculpture, photography, paintings, drawings, and prints.
