About Faribault / Waterville Area

50 Miles South of Minneapolis

There are over 30 recreational lakes between Faribault and Waterville that are treasured by locals and travelers alike. Faribault, located off of I-35, features rustic buildings, freshly painted murals, unique restaurants, breweries, and attractions.

Just 15 miles west, Waterville is another attractive city in Southeast Minnesota. A family will appreciate Waterville's public schools along with restaurants and shops.

You can enjoy the entertainment, attractions, and nightlife in Minneapolis and Saint Paul in under an hour's drive. The cities offer the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and a great selection of hospitals.

Waters Around Faribault

Cannon Lake is the largest in Faribault, covering nearly 2,000 acres. Many people enjoy hanging out on Shager Park Beach, but it is also a hit among boaters and anglers.

A pass under the highway 12 bridge will bring you to the waters of Wells Lake that run further into the city. The Cannon River splits the town; White Sands Park, South Alexander Park, or Faribault Park feature the river.

Other attractions of the city include Faribault Aquatic Center, Faribault Golf & Country Club, Faribo West Mall, and the River Bend Nature Center.

Waterville's Lakes and State Park

Sakatah Lake is a recreational jewel in Waterville. Some are lucky enough to own property on the lake, while others visit from the Sakatah Lake State Park.

Through the park's forest of maples and basswoods, you can hike, mountain bike, hunt, and spot various wildlife. The park's most popular trail is the Sakatah Singing Hills Trail, also used by snowmobiles in the winter.

Across from Sakatah, Tetonka Lake is the go-to place for boating, water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, or swimming. Walleye and Yellow Perch make the lake's best catches, but it also holds northern pike, black crappie, and channel catfish.

Ultimate Lake Enjoyment

In this region of Southeast Minnesota, lakes are abundant, along with opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Although, the cities of Faribault, Waterville, or even Minneapolis are never far.
