The Surrounding Ponds

Smith Pond spans eight acres, making it a private and small body of water.

When residents want a classic lake experience, they can head over to nearby North Pond or East Pond. Both offer boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, biking, and relaxing on the shoreline. In the winter, residents can ice fish, skate, snowmobile, and cross-country ski.

North Pond spans 2,531 acres, the biggest of the lakes touching Smithfield. Anglers can find brown trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white perch, yellow perch, northern pike, chain pickerel, golden shiner, fallfish, white sucker, hornpout, banded killifish, pumpkinseed sunfish, and American eel.

East Pons spans 1,700 acres, and residents will be hard-pressed to run out of things to do on the water. Anglers can find brown trout, rainbow smelt, white sucker, smallmouth bass, hornpout, largemouth bass, pumpkinseed sunfish, white perch, black crappie, yellow perch, American eel, and chain pickerel.
