Witters Lake - Dakota

Located in Waushara County, Wisconsin

Witters Lake is 43 acres and has a maximum depth of 17 feet. The town of Dakota is built to have a small-town feel, so you will more than likely spend most of your days on the lake. But if you are looking for something new and adventurous, you can go an hour from Dakota to the town of Wisconsin Dells.

Lake Life

Witters Lake welcomes boating, swimming, canoeing, and fishing from its residents and the public. The lake does follow the statewide lake ordinances along with its own. Witters Lake is a no-wake zone as a whole due to the fact that it is under 50 acres. Swimmers should not swim more than 150 feet from a shoreline unless accompanied by a boat with another person. There are swimming zones where motor-propelled boats are not allowed.

Fishing is a popular activity during both the hot and cold seasons. Common fish in Witters Lake include panfish, bass, and northern pike. Bass fishing is allowed year-round on a catch-and-release basis.

What To Do

If you are more adventurous, then there is plenty for you to do. Wilderness Canyon Zip Line is an hour from Witters Lake in the town of Wisconsin Dells. Wilderness Canyon has all the adventure your heart could desire for both the young and the experienced. The attraction includes a zip line course and a children's water park, so the adults and the kids have plenty to do. Wilderness Canyon also hosts large group zipline adventures if you want to bring along all the new friends you have made on Witters Lake.

Living on the lake allows you to be with nature every day, but camping allows you to sleep under the stars. White River Campgrounds is seven minutes from Witters Lake and offers places for tents and RVs. The campground has direct access to the water and has recently installed a playground so the kids can play under the stars.

Food is a big part of what makes a town your new home. Just 10 minutes down the road on County Road 73, Witters Lake has 15 different restaurants to choose from. KRB’s Klingers Real Barbeque is one of the top places for residents of Witters Lake. They hand smoke every piece of meat on Monday and Tuesday to ensure it is the best it can be for customers. A variety of sauces and sides adds to the amazing flavors that KRB has to offer. Nothing sounds better than a plate of BBQ next to the lake.

Thedacare Medical Center-Rose is 20 minutes from Witters Lake and is open 24 hours a day. Appleton International Airport is an hour and 10 minutes from Witters Lake and offers domestic and international flights.
