About Mckie Pond

A Walkable Neighborhood with Riverside Comfort

The McKie Pond area is within a half-mile of Three Rivers Hospital and walking distance of the town of Brewster. Families can take advantage of the town’s full K-12 public education.

The Brewster area also offers several worship centers including Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, Mormon, and Spanish Adventist denominations.

Fishing Opportunities

The McKie/Brewster area offers some of the best fishing available anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, with a boat launch and several public access spots along the shore. The nearby Lake Pateros and Columbia River are known for their steelhead, chinook salmon, and sockeye salmon.

The reservoir is also home to bridgelip sucker, brown bullhead, bull trout, chiselmouth, coho salmon, largemouth bass, northern pikeminnow, peamouth, pumpkinseed sunfish, redside shiner, signal crayfish, smallmouth bass, tench, three-spine stickleback, walleye, westslope cutthroat trout, white sturgeon, and yellow perch.

Resilient Nature

Alta Lake State Park is deemed “a land of fire and water.” Tucked between the hills just under 12 miles from the McKie/Brewster area, Alta Lake has been a long-time respite for anglers, water sports enthusiasts, campers, and families alike.

Though the Carlton Complex wildfire swept through the park in 2014, the scorched landscape has already begun to reclaim the land. The park continues to evolve as a testament to the power and resilience of nature.

World-Renowned Attractions

The Gamble Sands Golf course is located just under ten miles from the McKie Pond/Brewster area. Designed by the renowned David McLay Kidd, the Sands course is a true links layout set in the high desert overlooking the Columbia River.

What’s more, the new "Quicksands" 14-hole short course made its debut in 2021 as an addition to the resort. Come see why Gamble Sands is ranked number one in the state by Golf Magazine, number two on Golf Digest’s list of America’s Best 18 Holes Since 2000, and number sixteen on Golfweek’s Best 200 Resort Courses worldwide.

Echo Valley Ski Area is less than 36 miles from the McKie Pond/Brewster Area. The resort has been running for over 65 years and offers over 70 acres of slopes both groomed and ungroomed for beginners and experienced skiers/snowboarders alike. The club offers lessons, tubing, and a lodge making this the perfect run for the whole family.

Never a Dull Moment

McKie Pond’s proximity to bountiful fishing spots, gorgeous natural scenery, a walkable townscape, and family-friendly activities make it the perfect getaway for all ages.
