Great Spot

Located in West Olympia, Capitol Lake is a prime spot for its visitors.

Capitol Lake is in the southern portion of the Bay and Inlet part of Washington. A small sliver of land only separates the lake between it and the Budd Inlet, which is at the southernmost point of Puget Sound.

A larger lake stretching north to south, homes with lake access and lakefront views are available on the north, west, and east sides of Capitol Lake.

Enjoy the Outdoors

Capitol Lake has plenty of access to water, trails, and parks. The lake itself has a sidewalk circling the entire perimeter, providing access to walking, jogging, and dog walking.

There are also two nearby parks for Capitol Lake. Heritage Park celebrates the history of the state with county markers placed throughout the area. There is a bluff to the north and wetlands to the south.

The trail connects to the Hillside Trail. The other smaller park in Marathon Park. Visitors of this park can enjoy walking, jogging, a boat dock, and a picnic area. The Olympia Brewery also sits on the lake for visitors to enjoy.

One considerable advantage the lake has is its proximity to Budd Inlet. This inlet provides a variety of watersports to visitors willing to make the short trip north. Kayak rentals are available, along with paddleboarding, windsurfing, surfing, and fishing. There are also marinas for boating.

Fishing is available from the bank of the inlet and also on the water. Fish known to be found in the area include rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and cod.

Large Lake with Big Opportunities

A large lake such as Capitol Lake, combined with its close vicinity to Budd Inlet, guarantees plenty to do throughout the area. Hotels, restaurants, bars, and other venues all benefit from the lake's visitors, and vice versa.
