Briscoe Lake

A Truly Unique Location

A thin, long lake, Briscoe Lake is in the far southwestern portion of Washington.

What makes the location of this lake unique is what surrounds the lake. Briscoe Lake sits on a peninsula, known as Long Beach Peninsula, between two different water bodies. On the western side, there is the Pacific Ocean, just a short drive away. To the east lies the large Willapa Bay.

The lake is in between two cities: Oceanside to the north and Long Beach to the south.

In addition to the two large water bodies surrounding the lake and peninsula, dozens of other lakes are located to the north, south, and east of Briscoe Lake. Notable lakes include Breaker Lake to the east, Loomis Lake to the north, and Black Lake to the south.

Privacy and Parks

Located on a far western peninsula of Washington, with a bay and mountains separating it from the rest of the state, privacy is a guarantee on Briscoe Lake. However, traveling there could prove challenging.

The residents and guests of Briscoe Lake and the surrounding cities have the distinct benefit of being in the middle of three extensive state parks and nature conservations.

Sitting on mountains, hills, and the bay's coastline, the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge comprises over 11,000 acres for visitors to take in. The refuge consists of sand dunes, sand beaches, coniferous forest, marshland, and more. The refuge is to the east of Briscoe Lake.

To the far north of Long Beach Peninsula lies the Leadbetter Point State Park, stretching coast to coast from Willapa Bay to the Pacific Ocean. Birdwatching is popular at the park, with a wide variety of birds appearing during different seasons. Other activities include fishing and clamming.

On the southern tip of the peninsula is the Cape Disappointment State Park. This park is known for its distinctive lighthouses.
