Mt. Rainier National Park is considered an “icon” in the Washington landscape. As an active volcano with various wildlife observing opportunities, this location is open all year long. The best times to visit look to be in July and August. Since Mt. Rainer stands at approximately 14,000 feet above sea level, this makes it the largest mountain where you can even spot the area from Downtown Seattle.

Mt. Adams is the second largest mountain, standing at around 12,000 feet, and can be climbed any time of the year. Depending on your desired climbing or hiking routes, some routes are best taken at different months of the year. If you plan on taking the south-side route, the best months would be mid-may to mid-June.

St. Helens National Volcanic Monument offers many recreational outdoor activities like hiking, camping, fishing, snow sport, and even park ranger-led programs to get educational information about the area. Mt. Olympia, Washington's capital, is only two hours away from Bivin Lake. The city can be described best as a historic, cultural, and artistic city with attractions that you and the family would love. From Bivin Lake, you can even take day trips to the city to visit the State Capitol Building, enjoy a nice morning or afternoon at the famous farmer’s market, take the family to the children’s museum or theatre.
