About Bitter Lake

A Lake with History and Location

Bitter Lake is a 19-acre lake located within the greater Seattle area. Being just north of Seattle, the lake has a suburban feel to it.

The lake got its name from logs that a local sawmill placed in the lake. The combination of the tree logs in the water gave it a bitter taste.

City and Suburban Benefits

With the lake being so close to Seattle and other populated areas, it also comes with access to multiple venues and amenities.

Only with a short drive from Bitter Lake, one can reach various restaurants, both local and national, hotels such as the Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn, and gyms such as Planet Fitness and LA Fitness.

To the northwest of the lake are two large attractions: the Seattle Golf Club and the Elisabeth Carey Miller Botanical Garden, they are both in The Highlands. The golf club provides fun golf with great views. The botanical garden allows you to take in nature’s beauty.

The lake also has a subsidiary to the northeast, known as the Bitter Lake Reservoir. The lake is in the middle of town; there is plenty to do surrounding the reservoir, such as visit the community gardens.

Additionally, there is the Bitter Lake Community Center, providing a variety of services to its guests. The community center often hosts special events such as Friday Night Roller Skate Night, Multicultural Dinner and Concert, and Back-to-School Supplies Night.

A Seattle Getaway

With Bitter Lake being in such proximity to Seattle, people may think it is impossible to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a lake. However, the lake makes a great spot to get out of town and relax.
