About Barney Lake

Something New in Every Direction

Barney Lake is a prime location for residents and guests who like various terrains and bodies of water. Surrounding the lake are multiple creeks and rivers, namely the Nookachamps Creek and the Skagit River. Just to the east of the lake is another lake nearby, known as Clear Lake.

Barney Lake is located to the east of a couple of the large bays that can be found in Washington. Skagit Bay, Padilla Bay, and Samish Bay all sit west of the lake, requiring a long car ride.

The lake is also close to the mountains of Washington. Throughout the east of Barney Lake and Clear Lake, there are ranges of mountains. Mount Vernon is also nearby.

A Lake for Sports

For those who are physically active, Barney Lake offers something for everyone.

To the northwest of the lake is the Skagit River Sports Complex Playfields, home to various sports and outdoor activities. The park contains the opportunity to play sports such as baseball and softball on their diamonds or soccer on their grass fields. Additionally, the park includes areas for walking trails and riverbank fishing.

Those who enjoy the baseball and softball opportunities at the sports complex can also make their way to the Skagit Valley Softball Fields.

Fishing is also popular on and around the lake. The multiple streams and rivers surrounding Barney Lake make it a prime spot for salmon and steelhead trout. The lake itself also has the opportunity to catch fish both on and around the lake.

A Lake for Parks

Barney Lake is also close to five parks. All of these parks are located in the southwest and southeast of the lake. The largest of the five, Bakerview Park, lies to the southwest of the lake.

The other four parks - Monarch, Panorama, Basketball, and Tahoma/Swift Creek Park all sit to the southeast of Barney Lake.
