    Placid Lake is a beautiful lake in Colonial Beach, Virginia, not far from the Virginia-Maryland border. For a big-city trip, Richmond and Washington, D.C. are under 90 miles away.

    The Richmond International Airport is under 80 miles away, and the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is under 85 miles away.

    There are several hospitals under 50 miles away, including Mary Washington Hospital, Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, and VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital.

    On and Around the Water

    Placid Lake is part of the Placid Bay Estates neighborhood which offers plenty of lake fun to residents.

    This lake and nearby Chrystal Lake are private to residents and perfect for swimming and fishing. Mattox Creek, a tributary of the tidal Potomac River, is close by and accessible for boating and other recreation.

    The community center sits on the Mattox Creek shore and features plenty of amenities for events. It has a meeting hall, a full-size kitchen, a pavilion with six picnic tables, two lighted horseshoe pits, an outside lighted waterfront deck, a firepit, a video projector, and seating and tables for 93.
