Star Lake

Rutland County, Vermont

Star Lake is in Mt Holly, Vermont, and is under 90 miles from Concord. For other city trips, Burlington and Albany are under 120 miles away.

The Rutland Regional Medical Center is around 20 miles away, and the Albany International Airport is under 115 miles away.

Woods, Water, and Wildlife

Star Lake covers 63 acres and is skirted by marsh-like landscapes. Part of the Start Like Wildlife Management Area, the lake area is home to an abundance of wildlife.

It is forested with a variety of red maple, yellow birch, red spruce, and balsam fir. White-tailed deer, black bear, red fox, geese, turkey, and ducks populate the area.

Star Lake is enjoyed for boating, fishing, and swimming. The wildlife reserve is utilized for hiking, hunting, and fishing.

Outdoor Adventures

The Okemo Mountain Resort is an impressive recreation area. Its summer attractions include the chairlift, bike park, mountain coaster, mini-golf, and obstacle course. In the winter, there are 121 trails for skiing or snowboarding. It has a vertical of 2,200 feet and has the highest snowmaking efficiency in all of Vermont.

Visit Concord

Concord, the capital city of New Hampshire, has lots to offer residents of Star Lake.

The top attraction is the independently owned Red River Theatre. This theatre offers screenings of independent films as well as classic movies.

Those more interested in live performances should head to Capitol Center for the Arts. There they will find ballet, country, rock, and Broadway performances.

Another attraction is the Mcauliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, named after Christina Mcauliffe and Alan Shepard. This museum features interactive indoor and outdoor exhibits as well as a planetarium.
