The Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is 50 minutes away in Brenham. A little over an hour away is the Dan Jones International Airport in Cypress. Somerville High School and Elementary school are only 2,000 feet away from the water.

On and Around the Water

Somerville Lake is stocked with largemouth bass, hybrid striped bass, white bass, bluegill, catfish, white crappie, and black crappie.

Around the lake are four parks maintained by the Corps of Engineers: Rock Creek, Tegua Creek, Pecan Lake Park, and McCain Park.

On the northwest corner of the lake is Lake Somerville State Park where visitors can fish, camp, mountain bike, ride horses, watch birds, or hike. The park offers lake access as well as nearly 40 miles of trails, open to both hikers and bikers. Most of the trails are also open to horses. The campsites offered by the park include a variety of primitive, equestrian, and non-primitive options.
