Tellico Lake stretches 33 miles along the Little Tennessee River into the mountains of East Tennessee and is home to several upscale lakefront communities, neighborhoods, and marinas. The lake has 357 miles of shoreline and 15,560 acres of water surface.

The Tennessee Valley Authority has banned all development for residential use on the properties surrounding Tellico Lake that have not already been sold. The ban makes properties being developed along the lake now prime real estate in East Tennessee.

Tellico Lake is located about 30 miles southwest of Knoxville, which includes Fort Sanders Medical Center and the University of Tennessee. The Mcghee Tyson Airport lies between Knoxville and Maryville, another charming city.

Also unique is the lake's location along a chain of lakes connecting to the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway that travels down to the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.
