    Lake Murray is in Ardmore, Oklahoma, not far from the Oklahoma-Texas border. Dallas is under 120 miles away, the perfect big-city getaway.

    The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is under 115 miles away, and the Mercy Hospital Ardmore is under 20 miles away.

    Stock up on snacks and groceries at the Walmart, ALDI, or Sav A Lot within 20 miles. Locals recommend restaurants such as Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant Ardmore, Catfish Corner, Hide Away Grill by the Lake, and Foggy Bottom Kitchen.

    Lake Murray is a massive hidden gem in the state's largest state park and known for its crystal clear spring fed waters. Spanning almost 6,000 surface acres, this lake has plenty to offer residents and guests.

    Popular activities include fishing, boating, skiing, wakeboarding, camping, hiking, biking, golfing, swimming, nature viewing, and relaxing.

    Anglers will love tossing out a line for largemouth bass, channel catfish, smallmouth bass, freshwater drum, white bass, spotted bass, carp, and striped bass.

    Lake Murray State Park surrounds the lake and has many things to do. The Scenic Highway 77S circles the water, making it easy to visit all of the day-use parks, campgrounds, beaches, and facilities. Other amenities here are an ATV/motorcycle area, an 18-hole golf course, boat ramps, and more.

    The Lake Murray Nature Center will help residents and visitors learn about Lake Murray and the surrounding nature areas, and you can climb to the top of Tucker Tower and look out over the entire lake.

    The Lake Murray Marina has a ship store, boat rentals, a boat ramp, and plenty of boat slips available for rent.

    Arbuckle Wilderness Park is an exotic animal park with a drive-thru safari, a reptile area, a petting zoo, and lots of fun opportunities for the whole family.

    Turner Falls Park in the Arbuckle Mountains is a great option for camping, hiking, swimming, or exploring. Some of the features include a 77-foot waterfall, a rock castle, novelty shops, sandy beaches, three natural caves, and geological formations.

    The Dallas-Fort Worth Area

    For a great daycation spot or a weekend trip, the Dallas-Fort Worth area will be a hit with all family members!

    Six Flag over Texas, the original Six Flags theme park, is in the area. The park is also the home of the world’s first log flume, the first freefall ride, and the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Texas.

    A reasonable distance from Dallas, residents can also travel a short distance to AT&T Stadium to watch the Dallas Cowboys or Globe Light Field see the Texas Rangers.

    Other classic spots in the area include Ripley’s Believe-It-Or-Not museum, Louis Tussaud's Palace of Wax, the Metropolitan Classical Ballet, the Symphony Arlington, and the Arlington Music Hall.
