Copan Lake is only a short drive from the town of Dewey, Oklahoma. Copan is also conveniently located to Coffeyville Regional Med Center and the Bartlesville Muni Airport.
Built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Copan Lake was constructed to help flood control and to create a water supply. Now spanning 4,850 acres and with a depth of 33.5 feet, Copan is an impressively sized lake where residents can relax without feeling cramped.

Copan Lake was completed in 1983 and is named after the small town it resides in, Copan, Oklahoma. With the completion of the Copan Dam on Washington County's Little Caney River, Copan Lake was created. The lake's main uses include: water quality control, water supply, flood control, wildlife enhancement, recreation and fishing. Although there are many species of fish that can be found in Copan Lake, the most populated are largemouth bass, white crappie, flathead catfish, channel catfish, and sunfish.
