Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, Lake Higgins sits on 226 acres. It is part of Guilford County and is the smallest of three lakes in Greensboro. This city is home to Piedmont Triad International Airport and Wesley Long Community Hospital.

Lake Rules

People love to take their boats out on Lake Higgins. With its smaller size, it’s the perfect spot for paddle boats like kayaks and canoes! This is also the location of the North Carolina Rowing Center, a developmental and competitive rowing program. You can also take out your motorboats as well. There is a boat ramp for you to launch personal watercraft, or you can rent a boat.

Anglers are also welcome on Lake Higgins. You can catch a variety of fish, including bass, perch, crappie, bullhead, catfish, and more! The county also has a year-long fishing tournament that has a monthly winner. You can cast your line from your boat or at the fishing pier. You can also try out jug fishing at Lake Higgins!

For birdwatchers, you may be lucky enough to see bald eagles or Sandhill Cranes.

In the City

Near Lake Higgins, you can visit Bur-Mil Park. This park is owned by Guilford County and is open to the public. It offers a golf course, swimming areas, hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, and a wildlife center! There are also six other county-owned parks near Lake Higgins. There is also a Country Club right by the lake where you can golf and lounge away.

If you want a day in the city, Greensboro has plenty for you to do. Besides the many beautiful gardens, arboretums, and parks, you can explore the International Civil Rights Center & Museum, Greensboro Science Center, and the Wet ‘n Wild Emerald Water Park.
