Queechy Lake

Queechy Lake is near the New York and Massachusetts state border in the town of Canaan. This lake is only 141 acres in size, with a little over three miles of shoreline. It is relatively deep in some spots with a maximum depth of 40 feet and a mean depth of 19 feet.

Queechy Lake is near Interstate 90, which can easily take you to Albany, New York, in only 40 minutes.

Fishing and Boating

Queechy Lake offers anglers a wide variety of opportunities. It has shallow weedy areas for bass, pickerel, and panfish.

The lake also has deep cold water areas for trout. Each spring, the lake is stocked with approximately 1,500-2,000 brown trout and 1,500-2,000 rainbow trout.

The largemouth bass is plentiful in the 12 to 14-inch range with even larger fish available. Bluegills are abundant, with eight-inch fish being common and occasional bluegills up to 10 inches.

Ice fishing is also enjoyed during the winter months. There is no reason to be bored on Queechy Lake.

Kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, and pontoon boats can all be enjoyed on the calm waters of Queechy Lake. Diving off your private dock is also a great way to cool off during the warm summer months.

Visit Albany, New York

Albany is best known for its status as the New York State Capital, which means visiting the state capitol building is a must for some people. The building itself is magnificent with 19th-century architecture in a European style.
