Mariaville Lake

Near Albany, New York

Mariaville Lake is near Albany, New York, in the town of Duanesburg. The lake covers 197 acres and has five miles of beautiful shoreline and has a maximum 12 feet depth. This lake is a beautiful residential lake in the heart of Schenectady County.

The lake has a very abundant panfish population. Also, bass and pickerel grow to above-average sizes. Mariaville Lake is considered a famous year-round capital district lake.

Other species found in this lake are chain pickerel, common carp, eastern silvery minnow, golden shiner, common shiner, spottail shiner, bluntnose minnow, white sucker, yellow bullhead, brown bullhead, banded killifish, rock bass, pumpkinseed, bluegill, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, black crappie, tessellated darter, and yellow perch.

Featherstonhaugh State Forest

Surrounding the southern side of Mariaville Lake is the Featherstonhaugh State Forest. The 697-acre Featherstonhaugh State Forest features designated backcountry cross-country ski trails, snowmobile trails, and a 38-acre warm water lake for fishing and paddling.

Hiking, hunting/trapping, and camping are also fun activities to enjoy throughout the forest.
