The Fourth-Largest Great Lake

Lake Erie is the fourth-largest Great Lake, covering over 6.3 million acres, and the 13th largest lake in the world. It boasts 871 miles of shoreline and an average depth of 62 feet. Having a maximum depth of 210 feet, it is the shallowest of the Great Lakes and the warmest.

A Recreational Paradise

Known as the "Walleye Capital of the World," walleye fishing is a very popular activity at Lake Erie. Walleye is not the only lake; steelhead, bass, yellow perch, crappie, and bluegill are also popular catches.

Sailors and surfers alike enjoy the high winds of Lake Erie. The waves are one to four feet on average, but they can reach heights over 10 feet with the right weather conditions.
