Second Connecticut Lake

Coos County, New Hampshire

Second Connecticut Lake is sizable and tucked into the northwest corner of New Hampshire. It is in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, not far from the Canadian border.

Augusta, Maine is under 150 miles away, the perfect big-city weekend trip.

The Northeast Kingdom International Airport is under 105 miles away, and the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital is under 35 miles away. Within 25 miles are several grocery stores and markets.

Spanning an impressive 1,102 acres and with a max depth of 63 feet, Second Connecticut Lake has plenty of room for new residents without feeling too cramped.

Popular activities are boating, canoeing, kayaking, water skiing, swimming, fishing, relaxing, and taking in the beautiful views. Anglers on the lake can expect to reel in landlocked salmon, eastern brook trout, lake trout, and burbot.

The lake also has a public boat ramp, picnic tables, grills, parking, and restrooms.

Fort Western is home to the country’s oldest wooden garrison building, which was built in 1754. Old Fort Western is a living history museum offering tours, hands-on activities, and unique interactive experiences involving the history of New England during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.

For outdoor enthusiasts, visit Viles Arboretum, a park with six miles of trails, over 200 species of trees to observe, and wildlife all on this 224-acre garden.

Golf enthusiasts should check out Belgrade Lakes Golf Club, an 18 hole course considered one of the top courses in Maine and New England. It includes fabulous greens and fairways and beautiful scenes of nature.
