Echo Lake

Echo Lake is an aqua-blue escape in the Flathead Valley of Northwestern Montana.

Kalispell is about a 20-mile drive from the lake. It is home to restaurants, shops, schools, hotels, Kalispell City Airport, and Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Island Spotted Lake

Echo Lake is a uniquely shaped body of water, having many coves, islands, and peninsulas. The lake is filled with warm springs and run-off from Echo Creek.

Its warm temperature has made it a favorable location for water sports. Boaters, skiers, anglers, and kayakers all share a lake of 700 acres.

Alpine Drive Beach is a popular resting spot. Kayakers and canoers also find it easy to launch from the sandy shore.

A Fishing Paradise

Anglers typically retreat to the coves for fishing. The lake holds various fish, including largemouth bass, northern pike, bluegill, and sunfish.

When the lake freezes over, ice fishing is its main attraction. Anglers set up tents, ice sheds, and other equipment on the lake.

Hiking the Area

Mount Aneas is just east of Echo Lake. You can hike the Aeneas Summit Trail to reach the highest peak in the Flathead Region.

The Camp Misery Trails are below the mountains. Residents can access the Bigfork Community Nordic Ski Trail from Jewel Basin Road.
