McGregor Lake is about 30 miles southwest of Kalispell along Highway 2. The city offers a variety of restaurants, shops, hotels, and attractions.

The city is also home to Kalispell City Airport and Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Glacier Park International Airport is just a few miles north.

Over 1,000 Acres of Water

Covering 1,522 acres, McGregor Lake is the largest body of water in the Kootenai National Forest. Residents can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and camping in the forest.

The spring-fed waters, which are exceptionally clear, reach depths of 220 feet and are 106 feet deep on average.

Scuba Diving, Fishing, and More

McGregor Lake’s high visibility levels have made it especially popular among scuba divers.

Others spend time on the lake boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming.

It is known for its trophy-sized Mackinaw trout, but it holds a variety of other fish species. The Lodge at McGregor Lake hosts a fishing tournament each February.

A Variety of Activities

The McGregor Lake shoreline trail runs for nearly three miles and includes patches of huckleberries and wildflowers.

Many other trails in the Kootenai Forest are used for horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. It is also a popular location for riding ATVs or snowmobiles.

Venture to Kalispell for the Kalispell Center Mall, Buffalo Hill Golf Course, various restaurants, and several small casinos.

A Wonderful Life on the Water

At McGregor Lake, you can have a secluded lake environment without being so far from the city.
