Lake Dockery

Located in the Southwest Metro Area

Lake Dockery is southwest of Jackson in Byram, Mississippi. Byram is home to a Walmart, several grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and other typical establishments.

I-55 will get you to Downtown Jackson in under 20 minutes. It houses the Jackson International Airport, Saint Dominic Hospital, and Jackson State University.

Quiet Waters

Lake Dockery covers about 45 acres and is shaped similar to an oak leaf. Several grassy points stick out from the shore where you can fish or have a picnic.

Its many branches make it a fun place to kayak or canoe. While hanging around the like, you are likely to see mallards, blue herons, squirrels, rabbits, or deer.

There is a public boat launch on Lake Dockery Road for visitors.

Attractions in Byram and Jackson

The Byram Swinging Bridge is one of the area’s top sights. The bridge, built in 1905, passes over the Pearl River. When the bridge was used by cars, they caused it to sway. Now it is designated a footbridge, and it has become a trend to put “locks of love” on the bridge cables.

The Jackson Motor Speedway and Brookwood Country Club are other attractions around Byram.
