    About Virginia / Hibbing Area
    From Hibbing to Virginia

Minnesota Highway 169 runs through Hibbing, Chisholm, Buhl, and Virginia, a close-knit group of towns that share a significant number of small, recreational lakes.

Each of the cities has restaurants, shops, grocery stores, and other typical establishments.

Hibbing is convenient for the Fairview Medical Center, an extensive school system, and Mann’s Cinema 8. Virginia houses several box stores along with unique downtown shops.

The Itasca Airport and Grand Itasca Hospital are 30 minutes to an hour west on Highway 169.

    A Relaxed Lake Environment

The Hibbing-Virginia Lake Area is a recreational atmosphere that is excellent for those who enjoy small-town life.

Most of the city lakes like Kelly Lake, Longyear Lake, Silver Lake, and Virginia Lake are used by residents that enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and fishing.

Ely Lake, Saint Marys Lake, and Mcquade Lake are larger bodies of water where pontooning, motorboating, water skiing, and tubing can be done.

Sabin Lake is the most popular vacation destination, home to resorts, rental cabins, and the Giants Ridge Ski-Resort and Hiking Area.

Lake Ore-be-Gone, located east of Virginia, is a popular hangout because of its magically blue waters. It does not offer any properties, but the public has access to a beach, boat launch, pier, and waterside trails.

    Something for Everyone

The RedHead Mountain Biking Trail is a popular trail for bikers of all skill levels. The city also hosts the Saint Louis County Fair.

Golfers will enjoy having the Virginia Golf Course nearby--a log clubhouse and restaurant accompany the 18-hole course.

The Sturgeon River and Cloquet Valley Woods are just a few miles outside of the city. The George Washington and Kabetogama State Forest are further north.

    A Peaceful Escape

Anywhere around Virginia or Hibbing is a great place to raise a family or retire because you will never be far from city conveniences or outdoor excursions.
