This Cascade Beach Rd. Cottage has been in the same family since the original cabin was built in the late 1930’s! Truly a special opportunity, a decision that was not easy for the owners of this historical property. In fact, they wrestled for years about tearing down the original cabin to build their own getaway. In the end, they were creative and came up with an incredible solution, keep the old and incorporate it in to the new! The original cabin was owned by an art teacher, whose art work is still preserved in the original part of the cabin, including a handmade map with the Irish isle of Innisfree and a Yeats poem “Innisfree” – both pieces still hanging in the cabin! In 2006 the family took the old cabin into the modern era by adding a large addition to the original cabin. They added a new roof to the entire “Cottage” and sided the whole structure in low maintenance cement board shake siding, reminiscent of a New England cottage. The new addition has two bedrooms, one lake side with a half bath en suite. Full bath otherwise serving both bedrooms. Vaulted ceilings in kitchen, dining, and bedrooms with walk out deck from the kitchen/dining, and master bedroom. The kitchen and dining are open concept with plenty of counter and cabinetry to create meals and memories! The addition has an insulated door separating the original cabin from the new space. The original cabin has a nice wood stove as well as radiant heat. It has a main level bedroom along with a finished loft area with a lovely leaded glass window. In this manner, the family could cherish the original North Shore cabin while living comfortably in a new space with clean lines. The addition was strategically designed to offer the best Lake Views! A maintenance free deck on the lakeside adds outdoor living space, while enjoying spectacular views with no visible neighbors!
