Highway for Voyageurs

Crane Lake spans over 3,000 acres and is surrounded by beautiful mountainous views elevating the lake 1,119 feet about sea level.

Roughly 300 years ago, fur traders traveled through the area, discovering Crane Lake and many other segments of water on the chain of lakes now known as "Voyageurs Highway."

Fishing, Waterfalls and a National Park

With 17 different types of fish combined with low crowds of competition, fishing is the most popular activity in the area and makes Crane Lake an angler's dream.

Voyageurs National Park covers 84,000 acres, encompassing trails, diverse wildlife, and incredible views.

Vermillion Falls, just west of the lake, is a gorgeous, 10-foot wide cascade of water. This adds to the lofty scenic value of the area and makes for the perfect photo opportunity.

Each Independence Day, the township of Crane Lake holds a festival to honor the birth of America. Events include a parade down the main street and a firework spectacular when the sun goes down.

The Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary allows animal lovers of all ages to check out the wildlife of the north, specifically the black bear native to the area.
