White Lake is a natural freshwater lake formed by the White River, a deep-water channel connecting it to Lake Michigan.
It's situated in West Central Michigan's Muskegon County and is surrounded by the towns of Montague and Whitehall.
In its early days, the 2,500 acre lake suffered the side effects of a century's worth of numerous sawmills, logging activity and heavy manufacturing along its shoreline.
However, since the 1980s, conservation and clean-up efforts have rehabilitated the area, setting White Lake up to become the leading economic driver in the region again.
The White Lake community offers everything under the sun to keep you busy!
The all-sports lake offers a large variety of activities to residents and visitors, from jet-skiing and wakeboarding to snowmobiling and sailing.
Museums, state parks, beaches, horseback riding, breweries AND wineries, a petting zoo and even pottery classes: this small resort community is filled to the brim with things to do year round.
The social agenda around here is a hefty one.
Each August, the Chamber Music Festival offers a week of nonstop music and leisure, while the annual Maritime Family Sailing Regatta, part of the larger Maritime Festival, is held every summer.
Spring, summer, fall and winter are hosts to all kinds of different festivals, like the Pumkinfest in mid-october and the Father's Day Arts and Crafts Festival every June.
There truly is something for everyone here, and with White Lake's rapidly growing resort community, the area is looking more and more promising by the minute.
