      Lake Nicholas, located in Oakland County, northeast of Perry Lake and Hidden Lake, is a remote area with beautiful scenery and plenty of recreational activities to do around the lake, as well.

      Medical care can be found at the Pioneer Specialty Hospital in Pontiac, MI about 23 miles away from the lake along with several other medical care centers not too far from it.

      The Oakland County International Airport can suit any traveling needs only 15 miles from the lake with services to accommodate any customer who travels through the airport.

      Outdoor Recreation

      Within 4.5 miles north of Lake Nicholas, the Ortonville Recreation provides many amenities to explore such as equestrian, fishing, hunting, hiking, swimming, and more. For those who love to swim, there is a designated swimming area located at Big Fish Lake. The creation area of hunting is open to the public hunting for deer, rabbits, grouse, and waterfowl. A three-and-a-half-mile hiking and mountain bike trail features wonderful scenery of nature. Fishing is allowed with access sites in Algoe, Davidson, Round, and Today Lakes producing fish such as pike, bass, and perch. There is a boat launch at Big Fish Lake with high-speed boating between 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. limited to 20 vehicles with trailers. Other boat launches can be found at Davidson and Algoe Lake. The recreation area provides a beach house, cabins, lodges, and campers with horses. The equestrian campground provides an eight-and-a-half-mile horse trail for horseback riding. Many outdoor recreation activities not too far from Lake Nicholas can satisfy your outdoor needs.

      As well as the recreation area, Ortonville offers a safe shooting range for friends and family and a 3-D archery range requiring a recreation passport for entry.

      Northwest of the lake is the city of Ortonville providing several restaurants and places to shop around.
