Less than a half-hour away, the township of Ishpeming has several unique activities. For a winter activity, Sleighman is a great place to go for a horseback ride through the snow! Canyon Falls Trail and Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum are in the same area. Yoopers Innovation Museum is a fun and family-friendly place that holds the world’s largest rifle and the chainsaw and an added bonus — it’s free!

On the Water

Considered a large lake by the locals, 4,300-acre Lake Michigamme has a nice variety of fish including smallmouth bass, walleye, musky, trout, crappie, perch, sunfish, and northern pike. There is a boat launching and dock nearby that residents can use.

For the outdoor enthusiast, Lake Michigamme is full of small islands and inlets to explore and camp out at.
