Close to New Orleans

Lac des Allemands, or “Lake of the Germans,” is located across multiple Louisiana parishes, 25 miles southwest of New Orleans.

Thirty minutes away, you can find the Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport as well as the St. James Parish Hospital.

Residents can shop at Belle Terre Plaza and enjoy the numerous local restaurants, such as Nobile’s Restaurant and Bar or Bonnies’ Restaurant.

Large Stretch of Lake

Lac des Allemands is 12,000 acres and has plenty of surface area for everyone to enjoy the activities available to you on the water.

Anglers can expect to catch many freshwater species, including largemouth bass, spotted bass, channel catfish, black and white crappie, bluegill, green sunfish, and many more.

On the water, you can also go boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and participate in other water sports.

There are also opportunities for biking, horseback riding, camping, picnicking, hiking, and bird watching around the lake.

What to do near Lac des Allemands

Swamp and airboat tours let you experience the heart of the wetlands and see local flora and fauna such as cypress trees, alligators, and local birds.

A chartered fishing trip is a great way to become familiar with local fish species, from crab to catfish.
