Cotile Lake is conveniently located less than 20 miles west of Alexandria and just minutes from Kisatchie National Forest. I-49 is less than 10 miles away for frequent travelers.

Cotile Lake covers 1,775-acres, with a maximum depth of 28 feet and an average of 10 feet. This beautiful body of water offers many activities, including boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing.

The area appeals to anglers and outdoorsmen alike. The waters sustain a healthy population of largemouth bass, channel catfish, and perch. Many tournaments are held on the lake, including a youth tournament put on by the Association of Louisiana Bass Clubs.

The lake was completed with the Cotile Lake Dam in 1965. Its waters flow into Bayou Jean de Jean and the Red River.

The Cotile Lake Boat Ramp is located on the northeastern shore along with a beach, playground, and parking area.

Camping, Events, and City Attractions

Cotile Lake Recreation Area offers campsites, a swimming area, a cleared water skiing area, picnic areas, and more.

Cotile Lake Annual Trade Days is a two-day event held the last weekend of March. The market-style event features a variety of vendors with arts, crafts, and items of the sort.

Alexandria Zoological Park is a fun, family-friendly location featuring exotic animals, multiple exhibits, tours, and events.

Kent Plantation House, Forts Randolph & Buhlow, and James Wade Bolton House are historical sites in the city.
