About Lake Cumberland
Spanning Multiple Counties

Lake Cumberland, one of the largest and most visited lakes in the eastern United States, is a massive reservoir just south of Jamestown, Kentucky, and a little over two hours from Lexington.

Russell County Hospital is just 23 minutes away, and the lake is a little over two hours from Louisville International Airport. Within 30 minutes from Dollar General Market, Hardscratch General Store, and Kroger.

There is a restaurant at the Jamestown Marina on the north side of the lake. Other restaurants around the water include The Pizza Man, Reel Java, Fishtales, and Marina Rowena.

In downtown Jamestown, hungry Cumberland Lake residents can dine at the Jamestown Cafe, Giovanni's Pizza, or Pepe’s Mexican Grill.

On and Around the Lake

Lake Cumberland is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. The local marinas offer open slips, rental fishing boats, pontoon boats, houseboats, and ski boats.

Covering 50,250 acres, the lake has an abundance of largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, Kentucky bass, bluegill, crappie, rockfish, and walleye.

Houseboats are a token on Lake Cumberland. It is renowned as “The Houseboat Capital of the World.” For those who prefer to sleep on land, the area is also home to many cabins and campsites.

Activities off the water are also plentiful, such as disc golf, geocaching, hiking, miniature golfing, picnicking, and exploring the beautiful surrounding nature.

Explore Louisville

Louisville is approximately two and a half hours away from the lake and is a gold mine for interesting places to visit.

The top attraction here is the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Baseball lovers will appreciate the historical aspects of this museum as well as gain an appreciation for the production of baseball bats and mitts.

The Kentucky Kingdom is a family-friendly amusement park featuring a Ferris wheel and roller coasters. Hurricane Bay is the attached water park with waterslides and wave pools.

Museum-lovers should visit the Mohammed Ali Center, dedicated to the Louisville native, or the Kentucky Derby Museum, focused on the longest continuously-running sporting event in the country.

Adults of age should make time for tours and tastings at the Angel’s Envy Distillery or the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.
