Considered to be a part of the Indian Lakes Chain, Witmer Lake is located in Wolcottville in the famous LaGrange County.

The Indian Lakes Chain comprises five lakes, including Witmer, Dallas, Hackenberg, and Messick Lakes. The Elkhart River connects all of these lakes. Witmer Lake is about 204 acres in size, more significant than some of the other lakes in the chain.

Witmer Lake is only a few miles from the Michigan and Ohio state borders. It is also convenient to the southernmost tip of Lake Michigan.

Boating & Fishing

Witmer Lake is considered an all-sports lake, meaning boating, swimming, fishing, skiing, kayaking, and more can be enjoyed on the crystal waters. There is a public boat launch on the lake, which can be used to access other lakes in the Indian Chain Lakes.

The type of fish that can be found in Witmer Lake is bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and northern pike. Anglers will enjoy the thrill of the catch while soaking in the lake's beautiful views and lush shoreline.

Drive the boat up to Dallas Lake and enjoy a picnic in Dallas Lake Park. You can enjoy swimming, bird watching, picnicking, walking, and biking in the 140 acres of wetlands, prairies, and woods.

Due to Witmer Lakes' convenient location, you have a plethora of great travel options right at your fingertips. Residents are located approximately 10 minutes south of Lagrange and 45 minutes north of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In Fort Wayne, there are plenty of activities to do if you want to make the drive. Visit the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, Science Central, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and more.
