Third Shadow Lake is a private lake that is part of the Shadow Lakes community between Braidwood and Wilmington, Illinois. The lake is only an hour away from Chicago, Illinois’ thriving metropolis.

It is 22 minutes from Morris Hospital and Healthcare Center and an hour from O’Hare International Airport. Within 10 minutes from the Shadow Lakes community is Berkot’s Super Foods. There are both public and private schools in Wilmington and Braidwood.

The Shadow Lakes community has a fishing club, which holds several events and fishing contests on the lakes.

There are boat accesses and fishing piers offered as amenities by the community. Anglers can expect to catch largemouth bass, channel catfish, and blue catfish.

Hikers may enjoy taking the nature trail across the wilderness nature area in the west half of the community.

For a round of golf, residents can travel to the Cinder Ridge Golf Course, a meager 10 minutes away. Cinder Ridge is an 18-hole course that was nominated for best design by Golf Digest.

Wilmington and Braidwood are right on Route 66, a historical road and one of the original U.S. highways. The route runs from Chicago to Santa Monica, California, cutting through several states in the mid and southwest.

There are many tourist attractions nestled along the route, including the Gemini Giant, a classic 1960s fiberglass statue of a helmeted astronaut holding a rocket, and the Braidwood Zoo.
