South Lake

Located in the Village of Lakewood

South Lake is a beautiful feature of the Village of Lakewood, located around 50 miles outside of Chicago. Chicago is the ultimate source of city conveniences, providing restaurants, stores, hotels, hospitals, and the O’Hare International Airport.

Recreation on South Lake and in the Village

Surrounded by homes with lake-loving residents, the lakeshore is spotted with private docks. The waters are loved for their beauty, as well as boating and fishing opportunities.

Village members also have the joys of Crystal Lake, a busier boating location that also features two swimming beaches.

The lake’s main shore offers rentals for canoes, rowboats, sailboats, and paddleboats.

Brighton Oaks park offers walking areas, a tot lot, a basketball court, and a tennis court.

Events and Golf Courses

Independence Day, Labor Day, and Memorial Day include community celebrations followed by a fantastic firework display over Crystal Lake.

South Lake is surrounded by golf courses, having Turnberry Golf Course to the north and RedTail Golf Club to the south. Both directions are proud of their velvety greens and scenic views.

If you are new to Chicago, you must visit famous attractions like Millennium Park, Willis Tower, Navy Pier, The Art Institute of Chicago, Shedd Aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo, or Skydeck Chicago. For an evening out, you can dine at a downtown restaurant with views of the city skyline or the waters of Lake Michigan.

The Shops at North Bridge, 900 North Michigan Shops, or Water Tower Place are excellent shopping malls with brand-name stores. Oak Street Beach, Ohio Street Beach, or North Avenue Beach are Chicago beaches on Lake Michigan.
