Lake Tranquility

Just to the East of Lake Marie, Illinois

Lake Tranquility is half a mile west of Antioch Lake in Lake County in the state of Illinois. It is also nearby Lake Marie, which is a famous lake in the Chain O'Lakes waterway system. Lake Tranquility is 608 acres in size, with 2.5 miles of shoreline.

The 7,000-acre Chain O'Lakes waterway system comprises fifteen different lakes. The Chain is reported to be the busiest inland recreational waterway per acre in the United States. Residents of Lake Tranquility have easy access to this waterway system and can enjoy its recreational activities.

Fun On Lake Tranquility

Fishing is one of the more popular activities that residents and visitors can enjoy. Similar to the species found in the Chain O'Lakes system, Lake Tranquility is full of panfish, yellow perch, walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, largemouth bass, bluegill, white and black crappie, white and yellow bass, and channel catfish.

Boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking are also enjoyed on Lake Tranquility.

Nearby is the 840-acre Chain O'Lakes State Park. This park borders three of the Chain lakes and neighbors a 3,230-acre conservation area.

Trails for hiking and horseback riding cover the 2,450-acre park, which also offers overnight campgrounds. Hunting is permitted for dove and waterfowl season; there is an archery season for deer.

Visitors can even have fun in the winter when there are ice fishing and cross-country skiing.
