    Lake Bloomington is the perfect peaceful escape in central Illinois, located 13 miles north of Bloomington and approximately two hours from Chicago.

    Home to Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington provides the Central Illinois Regional Airport, medical centers, hospitals, hotels, stores, restaurants, and attractions.

    Gorgeous Waters and Recreation for Everyone

    Lake Bloomington resulted from a dam built on Money Creek in 1930. It now stretches three miles and covers 640 acres.

    Its 18-mile shoreline features the Mucky Duck Marina, six park areas, and three major camps. Boating, fishing, and water skiing are popular activities on Lake Bloomington.

    The lake is continuously stocked with game fishing giving anglers a high chance of catching walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, striped bass, pike, crappie, bluegill, and catfish.

    Lake Bloomington Park and Parklands Moon Preserve provide beautiful green landscapes for hiking, bird watching, picnicking, or walking the dog.

    Lake Events and City Outings

    Summertime on Lake Bloomington includes BBQs, pontoon parades, firework celebrations, and other events. Dinners and other community gatherings carry on into fall and winter.

    Miller Park Zoo is a great attraction for an animal-lover housing a variety of animals in its indoor and outdoor exhibits. Bloomington Cinema, Eastland Mall, or one of the local restaurants are perfect for a casual night out.

    Ironwood Golf Course is just south of the lake where golfers can play a challenging 18-hole course that features the natural beauty of Illinois.
