Between Waukegan and Chicago, Illinois

Forest Lake is a private 39.3-acre human-made lake in the famous Lake County, Illinois. To access Forest Lake, you need to be a resident or visitor of the Forest Lake Community. It is a very shallow lake with an average depth of around six feet.

Forest Lake is less than an hour's drive to Waukegan, Illinois, and Chicago. This makes it a convenient community for commuters or people looking to leave the city.

Fishing and Golfing

Anglers have reported catching largemouth bass, walleye, catfish, bluegill, and black and white crappie. Non-motorized boating, swimming, and fishing are allowed on Forest Lake.

On the eastern side of the Forest Lake community is the Kemper Lakes Golf Club. This club has a long history of hosting famous players like Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, and more. They are one of three courses in the state that have hosted a major championship. Forest Lake is the perfect, private oasis for golf lovers.

Twin Orchard Country Club is also nearby and is a few miles south on Old McHenry Road.

A lesser-known city in Illinois compared to its larger counterpart Chicago, Waukegan is a few miles drive from Forest Lake. Nearby is Six Flag of Great America, which is an amusement park with roller coasters, games, and fun events.
