About Barth Pond

In the Suburbs of Chicago

Barth Pond is a 5.8-acre body of water located in Patriots Park in Downers Grove, Illinois. It was initially built in 1978 to serve as a stormwater detention facility, but now it also serves as a popular fishing spot.

In 2011, the pond underwent a shoreline improvement project, which included removing a deteriorated steel seawall and replacing stacked limestone and native vegetation. The Park District also upgraded the surrounding pathways and added more paths to create a half-mile paved loop around the pond. The community is continually investing in Barth Pond and its upkeep.
