Greers Ferry Lake

Greers Ferry Lake is a whopping 40,500 acres and is one of Arkansas’ largest lakes. It is owned by the Corps of Engineers and renowned for its environmental cleanliness. In fact, it’s commonly hailed as one of the clearest lakes in the nation. It was created in 1962 by the damming of the Little Red River.

An Anglers Paradise

Greers Ferry Lake is a record-producing fishery and currently the home of the world record walleye. The lake is stocked with healthy populations of black bass, bream, crappie, catfish, walleye, white bass, and hybrid striped bass.

A short distance away is the Little Red River which is known as a premier trout fishery. Appropriately, it’s the home of the world record brown trout.

A Lake of Endless Opportunities

Many surrounding camping and recreational opportunities are offered at the various parks surrounding the water. Most of them include boat ramps as well and some of them even offer areas for picnicking and swimming.

The lake is home to multiple islands, including Sugar Loaf Mountain which has a nature trail for kayakers to navigate after docking on the island shore.

Cliff diving and camping are also popular activities at Greers Ferry Lake. There are even a number of waterfalls in the area including Bridal Veil and Cornelius Falls.

Places to Eat

Greers Ferry Lake residents love to dine at local front-runners like Pizza Pie-Zazz, Chuck’s Diner, and Jansen’s Lakefront Restaurant.
