Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, commonly referred to as Lake LBJ, is part of the Highland Lakes chain in Central Texas.
Local municipalities include Marble Falls and Kingsland, with Austin located less than one hour away.
Formed in 1950 by damming the Colorado River, the primary function of LBJ was originally to provide hydroelectric power.
Now, the lake is also used as cooling water for the Thomas Ferguson Power Plant, which means the lake level must stay constant year round. The lake covers over 6,200 acres and reaches up to 90 feet deep.
Common recreational activities on the lake include boating, skiing, swimming, and fishing. LBJ is stocked with typical sport fish including largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, and catfish.
There are three public boat ramps and several marinas located at various points on the lake.
There are several highly rated golf courses in the area, as well as many other attractions within 50 miles, including wineries, shopping, state parks, and more.
First held in 1969, Lake LBJ is home to the annual Aqua Boom 4th of July event. This event includes parades, pageants, fireworks, a poker run, and much more.
Come to Lake LBJ and experience some of the best living that Texas has to offer!
