Lake Coleman is about 13 miles north of Coleman, Texas, and 45 miles southeast of Abilene.

There are many small airports nearby Lake Coleman, but the closest sizable airport is Abilene Regional and is less than a 45-minute drive from the lake. Emergency care can be found at Coleman County Medical Center which is 25 miles away.

Stock up on snacks and essentials at family-owned Hiway groceries about 20 miles away, or try one of the recommended restaurants such as Black Cur, Hidalgo’s Cafe, and Coleman Coldwater Cattle Company Steakhouse.

Endless Opportunities

At 2000 acres and a depth of 48 feet, Lake Coleman is vast, making it incredibly difficult to run out of things to do on it, or places to explore.

There are three boat ramps, with two main ones located near Press Morris Park. There are picnic and camping sites, as well as a marina and bait store. However, there are no boat rentals and the area is not ADA accessible.

The lake is well known for hybrid striped bass fishing, especially during the summer and early fall. Largemouth bass fishing is best from September through May. Flathead catfish can also be found on this lake.

Lake Brownwood State Park is 54.5 miles away and offers Lake Brownwood access, fishing, boating, swimming, trails, pavilions, group halls, geocaching, a volleyball court, a softball field, camping, and more.
